Arizona Organist

Julia Tucker is an organist based in Phoenix, Arizona where she is studying with Dr. Kimberly Marshall at Arizona State University. She also serves as Organist and Assistant Minister of Music at Valley Presbyterian Church in Paradise Valley, AZ.

ABOUT JULIA
​

An Alabama native, Julia Tucker holds a degree in Piano Performance from Auburn University and Masters of Piano Performance and Masters of Organ Performance from Syracuse University where she studied with Dr. Annie Laver.

​Julia keeps a very active performing schedule as an organist, collaborative pianist, harpsichord player and choral singer. She is the 2017 recipient of the Civic Morning Musicals award for excellence in organ and piano performance, the 2017 Syracuse University Visual and Performing Arts Master's Award and was a 2017 finalist in the Strader Organ Competition. She was a faculty member at the 2018 Pipe Organ Encounter in Phoenix, Arizona.

​Julia has served as a church musician since she was an early teenager and is passionate about assisting and empowering choirs and congregations to give their best to God through song and praise. She is Organist and Assistant Minister of Music at Valley Presbyterian Church in Paradise Valley, Arizona. Her husband, Joel Morehouse, is Music Director at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Avondale, Arizona, and they collaborate on many sacred music projects throughout  the Phoenix area. 

Julia is a doctoral candidate at Arizona State University where she studies with Kimberly Marshall and serves as her Teaching Assistant.  She also serves as Sub-Dean of the Central Arizona Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

Harpsichord / Figured Bass     Played Continuo with the Syracuse Baroque ensemble and various Operas, Concerti and Projects.
Piano Teaching    Has taught repertoire, theory and ear training to a busy studio of private piano students since 2014.
